Can You Lose Weight While Doing Pilates?
It's the question I'm asked most. The honest answer is more nuanced — and more encouraging — than a simple yes or no.

This is easily the question I hear most, so let's talk about it honestly. Can Pilates help you lose weight? It can absolutely play a part — but not always in the way people expect.
The honest answer
Weight change comes down to many things — nutrition, sleep, stress, hormones and overall movement. Pilates on its own isn't a high-calorie-burn workout the way running might be. What it does brilliantly is build strength, posture and body awareness, which change how you move all day and make other movement feel good again.
What my clients actually notice
- Clothes fitting differently as posture and tone improve
- Feeling stronger and more energised, so they move more overall
- A kinder, more consistent relationship with their body
I'd rather help you feel capable and strong than chase a number on a scale.
If your goal is to feel leaner and stronger, Pilates is a wonderful foundation — most powerful when it's part of a life you actually enjoy moving through.
